Greetings, SDAF Members!
We are excited to kick off our 2018-2019 events with our annual BBQ this Thursday at McKennan Park. Hopefully many of you are able to attend, enjoy some great food, catch up with your peers and colleagues, and learn about the upcoming year with SDAF.
I did want to send an update regarding SDAF leadership. Our part-time Executive Director Shannon Steffke has accepted a full-time opportunity in the marketing department at Dakota State University. While she will be sincerely missed, this is an excellent opportunity for her and her family.
Over the past few years, Shannon has served as a steadfast voice and face of the South Dakota Advertising Federation, making valuable connections within our service area, District 8, and the American Advertising Federation. Shannon was instrumental in several new initiatives including our ADDY Gallery Night and increasing our involvement in AAF District 8 and the national organization. Shannon and our board of directors are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible and will be working together closely over the next few months. Shannon plans to continue being involved in a volunteer or member capacity for which we are very grateful.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your executive director,” noted Steffke. “This was truly a dream job for me. It was a pleasure to serve you at the local, district and national level. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’ve been blessed with amazing relationships. I am sad to leave this role, but I am so proud of the current board of directors and I am excited to see what is in store for the future of our club.”
We expect to have the position posted soon, so please be sure to send any qualified candidates our way. On a side note, we are excited to be hosting the AAF District 8 Fall Conference – Tell Me More at the end of the month on September 28. Shannon had the vision and determination to make this conference a reality here in Sioux Falls and we cannot wait for you all to meet our partners in D8 and hear the excellent speaker lineup. Tell Me More is a fantastic opportunity for all members of SDAF, as well as a perfect chance to show the other clubs in our district how great South Dakota is! We hope to see you and your teams there, so be sure to register today! If you have any questions regarding these updates or the transition plan, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to connecting with you all again soon.
